This is it! The last map for the semester (but not necessarily forever)!
Eastern Market! Last but definitely not least. It's one of my favorite places, especially now with the start of spring. I had to do a bit of editing here and there for composition-sake, so not all of the wonderful establishments are there. I've included color studies again, so you all know how much I was thinking about the color green.
More Detroit maps in the future? Quite probably!
In other news, I've redesigned and updated my website, mlmiotke.com, so go ahead and give that a good look over if you want! I've also made all of my maps, and a few other prints including my Mudgie's piece, available on my Society6 shop.
Finally, I've been posting much more frequently on my Tumblr page, so check that out and follow (or don't, it's really up to you)!

Midtown Maps
Here's the next bit in my series of Detroit maps, my present place of residence, Midtown! There are so many fine art-and food-related places, that I had to pare it down a bit AND make two maps. How about that? I even threw a bit of process in there for you--a little glimpse at my color studies. Try not to get too excited about it, ok? Control your bowels and whatnot.
In other news, I'm going to start transitioning more over to my Tumblr page, so you guys should go and take a look at that, or follow me, or whatever you want. Your choice. NO PRESSURE.

Belle Isle
Who exists?
ME.
I do. Really.
For the past few weeks I've been lurking in a corner at my desk, working on a few projects, and developing that fine transparent skin tone I've always longed for. As evidence, here's one of those projects (skin transparency to be debuted at graduation).
As a sort of continuation of the Corktown series I did last semester, I'm making maps of different Detroit areas. So first up this semester is Belle Isle.
I've already started the next few, so WATCH OUT.

Website
I recently launched my official, professional portfolio site! Also, I felt uncomfortable not including an image with this post, so here's a sketch I did during break.

Corktown Map
Finals, guys. I have one class left, and then I'm done with the first half of my senior year. Here's one of my final projects from the semester.
This project was to create a body of work--a main illustration, a supporting illustration, and then a series of patterns (with some alternate color schemes). I chose to base mine around one of my favorite Detroit eating areas (and historical areas), Corktown.
A map of a few Corktown places: Slow's BarBQ, Astro Coffee, the old, no longer present Tiger Stadium, Mudgie's, Green Dot Stables, the old train station, and Mercury Bar.
My supporting illustration with one of my favorite Corktown restaurants, Mudgie's.
Then a version of my map with an alternate color palette. And finally, my patterns, in two different color schemes, featuring lovely Corktown homes and the brick road of Michigan Avenue.
So there you have it.
And yes, I do accept donations of food from any of these places. Particularly Mudgie's.
P.S. I have a Behance page. If you're into that. Click it!

Liquor Label
Here's another alcohol-based assignment.
We had to design front and back labels for a liquor, then apply it to a container of our choice. After debating between the few liquors I enjoy (hint: not tequila), I landed on moonshine.
I wanted to play off of one of it's various nicknames, because, let me tell you, there are some good ones--corn whiskey, donkey punch, hooch, skull cracker, bush whiskey, and bathtub gin, just to name a few. I went with the timeless and classy "Rotgut", as you can see. I mean, what else would allow me to stare at colons and other organs?

THE ORANGE CRUSH |
An illustration based on a POP (or soda, if you're 10 points lower on The Champ Scale).
I really enjoyed doing the color studies, so you can enjoy them too.
You're welcome.
